Club members gather to make a presentation to Martin Fagan and wish him well before he
sets off for Beijing

Club members gathered in force at the Club grounds before training on
Tuesday 29th July to make a special presentation to Martin Fagan and wish him well before he set off for Beijing.
For many of the younger juveniles, it was particularly inspiring to learn that as a youngster, Martin had trained
in the very same places as them and he assured the assembled crowd of attentive listeners that very many of them have a lot
more latent ability and talent than he ever had at their age and if they continue to apply themselves in training and competition,
they too can realistically aspire to compete in future Olympics.
After the presentation by Club President, George
Bell, on behalf of the members of the Club, there was plenty of opportunity for photos and autographs with the man of the
hour. Also present to wish Martin well was fellow Olympian, Cormac Finnerty, himself no stranger to what Martin faces as Cormac
competed in the 5,000m at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
We look forward to seeing Martin in action in the men’s
marathon on the final day of the Olympics and wish him every success.
