At a Gala function in Arklow on Saturday 21st March, Jake Byrne was presented with his Waterford Crystal AAI Juvenile Star Award for his outstanding performances during 2008. This is the second year in a row that Jake has won an AAI Star Award.

While this is a great personal accolade for Jake, the Club was also honoured at the Star Awards function by being presented with the Kennedy Perpetual Shield for best cross country Club in Ireland in 2008. This surely comes as no great surprise, given the 6 Club titles and 2 Club silvers won by Mullingar in the National cross country finals in 2008, but it still very satisfying that the hard work put in by our outstanding juvenile athletes is recognized in this way. They are all to be congratulated and can be very proud of themselves and their achievements.
