Getting his outdoor season off to a flying start at the oddly named “Baldy” Castillo Invitational on 21st March at the Sun Angel Stadium, Arizona State University, Damien Bateman was only narrowly beaten into second place over 1,500m by just three hundredths of a second, but his compensation was a new personal best of 3:46.60, which equates to a mere 3 seconds outside the magic 4-minute mile.
