On
Friday evening 22nd May at the Irish Miler's Club event in Irishtown Stadium in Dublin, Jake Byrne ran his fastest ever 3,000m knocking a whopping 19 seconds off
his previous best with a time of 8 minutes 30 seconds, which is inside the European Youth Olympic standard.
He was helped greatly by the brilliant pace-making and encouragement of Mark Christie
who helped him every step of the way. It really was heartwarming to see one Club man helping another Club man so unselfishly.
The Club has had others
in the past with just as much talent and ability as Jake but they never achieved their potential because they lacked the vital
commitment and determination.
Well
done Mark and well done Jake, you are both a credit to our Club.
