With
over 500 athletes turning up to run, no wonder the start of the Dunshaughlin AC "Michael Manning Memorial" 10km Road Race on Saturday 27th June had to be delayed by
nearly 20 minutes to cope with the large number of late entries. However, this race is always extremely well organised and
despite the challenge of such a large start list, the course can cope with the numbers and was very well marshalled all the
way.
Once off, Tom McGrath
settled in and despite reporting that he suffered from 3km out, still led the Mullingar men’s team home in 34:22
(3rd in master age-category), with Maurice Looby having a fantastic
race to finish next in 34:58, followed by Matt Glennon (35:14),
Liam McGlynn (36:30), Justin
Murtagh (36:31), Colm Walsh, Kieran Nolan and John O’Reilly, and with
everyone running so well it was no surprise that the men took a prize for second team, which no doubt added
to their enjoyment of the customary post-race refreshments that mark the Meath Road Race Series.
