Taking place on Saturday 4th July, the Achill Half Marathon attracted an amazing 1,700 competitors, among them Maurice Looby and Eddie Newman. When the official Achill Half Marathon website describes the course as "Approved by the AAI, the course is difficult in areas, but very manageable", one can take that as a clear warning that this not a race for the faint hearted or the unprepared!!

No problems though for Maurice Looby who finished an excellent 6th place in 1:20:13, with Eddie Newman also having a great run to finish 16th in 1:24:36, which are great performances on this exceptionally tough course.
