Staying with the leading pack in the early stages, Jake Byrne was the only one to take on the challenge of a breakaway on lap two of four at the Ballyfin 4,000m junior cross country in Emo Court, Co. Laois on Saturday 19th September.

However, half way through the third lap, Jake had to ease back a bit and over the closing stages was caught by the chasing pack to finish 7th but with Vincent Connolly, Thomas Fagan and Robert Yorke running strongly and packing well, led Mullingar to third team prizes.

It’s early in the season and the race distance was short, but the Mullingar team performed very well and should feature strongly in the results this season.
