Athletics Ireland has announced the teams for next month’s European Cross Country Championships, which takes place on December 13th in Santry Park, Dublin. The senior men’s team will include Martin Fagan and joining Martin on the team is Club mate Mark Christie who missed the Inter-County race in Kilbeggan last week that was used as a trial for the Europeans, but Mark’s performances in top class races before then was enough to convince the selectors to include him on the team, so the Club is doubly honoured to have two of its best athletes competing for Ireland in the Europeans and give us all something extra to cheer about.

How many of our current crop of talented underage athletes will compete for Ireland at senior level in the years ahead? Many have the talent but will need to apply themselves fully to athletics in the way that Martin and Mark did to realise their full potential.
