Martin Fagan was in New Orleans on Sunday 28th February though not as a late-comer for the annual Mardi Gras festival but to compete in the inaugural half marathon. Martin was among an elite group of 5 athletes that ran in close formation up to the 9 mile mark, including Kenya’s Martin Lel, Sammy Wanjiru, Shadrock Biwott and McDonald Ondara. It was Lel who made the break from the group and went on to eventual victory in 61:07, with Wanjiru in second, Biwott in third and Martin fourth in 62:02. This is terrific running from Martin and reinforces his credentials as a truly World-class athlete.
