Because he didn’t have to travel
to Nenagh for a 1,500m final on Sunday 28th March, Vinny Connolly
was able to compete in the open fresh air at the Dunboyne AC 4 mile road race in Co. Meath.
With perfect
conditions for running on the new flat and fast course, which stayed close to the supporters along the route in and around
the town, Vinny was the runaway winner of the Junior men category in 21:37,
to round off a very successful week-end for him.
Vinny also had the distinction of
leading the Mullingar team home, with Ben Vaitkavichius close on his
heels in 21:40 (2nd in master age-category) and with Martin Lyons
(21:57), Liam McGlynn (22:30), Eddie
Newman (23:14) and Mark Carroll (23:45) packing well,
the team finished in 4th place.
