Trim
AC initiated a new type of race in Meath on Friday 18th June with a trail run that took the athletes around a testing 5km
cross country-type course in Porchfields near Trim Castle, dubbed the "Braveheart" Trim AC 5km trail Run.
The Meath County Board often hold their County Cross Country Championships in Porchfields, but as it was summer,
more of the area was accessible and one of the more unusual features of the course was the low-level underpass that had to
have padding on the roof edge to protect the heads of the taller runners! With over 250 finishers enjoying
the unusual race, it’s likely to feature on next year's Road Race calendar.
Representing Mullingar
was Patrick Muldoon Junior who was very pleased with his run and finished 7th
overall, ahead of Eddie Newman who took home a prize for finishing 2nd
in his master age-category, and finally Pat Muldoon Senior who finished 4th in his master category.
Well done to the Mullingar contingent.
