Other great performances from strong Mullingar contingent
Coping with wet and windy conditions and hill after hill after hill, Martin Lyons was best of a strong Mullingar contingent that competed alongside more than 2,000
others in the grueling Achill Half Marathon on Saturday 3rd July and was the overall winner
in a new personal best of 1:15:59. Martin was absolutely delighted with his victory, and
the new PB was an added bonus and just reward for all the hard work he has put in at training in recent weeks.
Also having a terrific race to finish in 10th place was Paddy Kelly
(1:19:39), followed by Eddie Newman in 12th
with a PB of 1:22:09 and Matt Glennon
close behind in 15th place. Unfortunately, there was disappointment for Maurice
Looby as he was forced to drop out with a painful Achilles injury.
This was a great set of results
for the Mullingar contingent and reinforces the Club's reputation on the Road Race circuit - where ever Mullingar athletes
compete, they'll invariably feature in the prizes! Well done to them all.
