Enjoying the unique atmosphere generated by the record number 6,000 competitors in the Phoenix Park on Saturday 17th July for the Adidas/Irish Runner 5 mile Road Race, Tom McGrath ran a very even paced race in windy but otherwise ideal running conditions to finish in a time of 26:25 to place an excellent 25th overall and 3rd in his master category. Tom was followed closely by Martin Lyons only three places behind in 26:30 to finish 7th senior man, with Eddie Newman next in for Mullingar in 28:13 (7th in master category) and Pat Muldoon Senior (5th in master category) also running extremely well and very pleased with his time of 29:46.

The Mullingar men were lucky they ran so fast, as they all made it to the finish just before the heavens opened and nearly drowned everyone, but by then they were safely under cover! Congratulations to our senior athletes for continuing their fine string of great performances on the road race circuit.
