Leading from the start in the under 16 boys 1,500m at the Celtic Games International T&F in a windy Athlone IT on Saturday 7th August, Shane Fitzsimons won with a big 10 second margin, setting a new Championship record time of 4 minutes 1 second, bettering the previous record by 5 seconds. Shane's maximum points contributed to Ireland's to victory in the team competition against Scotland, Wales and Ulster.

This was a great finish to a terrific track season for Shane.
