A large contingent from Mullingar
was among over 2,200 finishers at the Ballycotton Road Race on Sunday 9th March. This is one of the biggest and best
road races in Ireland and takes place over a tough 10 miles course. At least the conditions were
favourable on the day, in contrast to the rest of the Country, which had to endure very cold, wet and windy conditions that
Sunday. It was a gruelling test of endurance nonetheless.
Matt Glennon was first home for Mullingar,
finishing an excellent 16th place in his master age-category, followed by Pat Muldoon Senior who finished
an even better 12th place in his age-category. Following in order was Patrick Muldoon Junior,
Liam
McGlynn, Ciara Dillon, Vera McCool (a brilliant 3rd place in her age-category),
David
Fagan, Niamh Dillon, Breda McDonnell (also a great 3rd place in her age-category), Brigid McCabe,
Mary
Dillon (7th place in age-category), Des Walsh, Geraldine Walsh (6th place
in age-category), Paul McCool, Nicky McCabe, Sinead Marshall and Martha Marshall
(10th in age-category).
