Congratulations to Sarah Mescall and Martin Fagan on receiving the Westmeath Examiner Sports Star of the Year Awards for January 2007 and July 2007 respectively. The Awards were presented at a magnificent Gala evening at the Mullingar Park Hotel, who were sponsors of the Awards, on Friday 1st February.

Martin also received the overall Sports Star Award for 2007 amid a standing ovation from the packed hall. Also receiving a Special Merit Award was Shane Heffernan for his silver medal performance in the long jump at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai last October.
