Mullingar Harriers enjoy a temporary lull in activity

Over the Easter period, when some Club members will grab the opportunity to take a welcome short break, we have a little time to draw breath and reflect on the tremendous success of the past number of weeks in schools cross country, indoor track and road races, where Mullingar has made quite a mark.

Nobody could really argue that top of the pile must be Martin Fagan, but Mark Christie and Damien Bateman are really making their mark too, and we have a crop of very exciting young athletes in the Club at the moment that will be looking to surpass the achievements of Martin, Mark and Damien in time, chief among them being Jake Byrne, Elizabeth Carr, Shane Fitzsimons, Ciara Hewson, Thomas Lynn, Lorraine Daly and Linda Conroy, but there are others a little younger that show all the early signs of greatness to come.

The outdoor season gets underway in earnest towards the end of April when the Schools competitions get into full swing and we wonder how many Club athletes will earn International vests. We know that there are many in the Club very capable of making a big breakthrough this summer and they only need continue to apply themselves fully in training to fulfill their dreams of honours.
